Our Cement Foundations
Whether you're pouring a new concrete foundation in Coeur D'Alene Idaho or repairing an old one, we can help! With strong backs and some good ol' hard work we can get your projects finished fast! Here's a little bit more about the services we offer in regard to the base of your home:
Building New OnesHere at K&C Concrete, we normally work with three main types of foundations: slabs, crawl spaces, and basements. Each has its own benefits and downsides, but here's a little more about each one so that you make an informed decision on your project:
Slab
These poured concrete foundations are the most basic of all three options. Because of this they're cost-effective, durable, and easy to maintain. However, they do lack access to any plumbing or wiring running underneath the floor. We generally start building these by first grading the area around the job site and digging out a hole one to two feet deep. This hole is then filled with gravel to provide a sturdy, even surface, and a plastic layer to keep water from soaking through the cement and into your home or business. The slab itself is poured a few feet deep and is generally pushed up above ground level a foot or two. The edges of your business or house foundation are generally poured a foot or two deeper to help keep the pad from sliding or cracking as the ground around it settles at different rates. After the cement has cured, we'll level the surface using a grinder and then you're ready to begin framing. Crawl Space
This type of base is popular for a variety of reasons. To start, it provides you with easy accessibility to the plumbing and wiring underneath your home, all at a more than reasonable price that's cheaper than a basement. While they don't have adequate space to provide a living area underneath your main floor, they do keep your home off the ground and standing over the years to come! We start this process by first digging out a hole five to six feet deep. This is then backfilled with gravel and perforated pipe to give the foundation above a firm footing and a way to drain away excess moisture after rain or snow. Once this has been completed, we'll put forms into place which create a "mold" for the cement to sit in. After concrete has been poured and dried, we'll remove the forms and clean up the area. If you have any questions about this process or simply want a free quote, give us a call! When it comes to your home or business, you probably want to maximize your use of space on the property. There's no better choice than a basement! Not only do these cement foundations add living and storage space to your building, but they also offer you easy access to plumbing and wiring. In addition, these spaces don't have to look like a dungeon! When you're building on a slope, a basement can actually offer great natural lighting and outdoor access. We begin building these by first digging a hole out eight to ten feet deep. Just as with other concrete foundations in Coeur D'Alene Idaho, we'll backfill this space with a layer of gravel. Forms are then put into place, covering the walls and any footings to be poured. Beams are built first, followed by the floor and finally any vertical surfaces. After our molds are removed and touch ups are made, you're ready to go ahead and continue framing! |
Repairing Old Ones
While the base of your home or business is made to last, it will eventually need be repaired. As the ground around it settles and winters come and go, cracks will form and you may even be left with a sloped floor. This is where concrete foundation repair in Coeur D'Alene ID comes into play. We can help you get your building back in shape in no time.
When it comes to cracks or holes, we can often patch these with a simple compound. However, extensive damage may require us to resurface the entire area. Additionally, sloped floors or sagging cement can be repaired using a method called "concrete lifting". This involves injecting foam or other compounds underneath your floor and lifting it until level. |
